TÜBİTAK, 2244 Industrial Ph.D. Fellowship Programme
In the 2244 Industrial Ph.D. Fellowship Programme, which is the best example of the University-Industry cooperation model, which was initiated by TÜBİTAK for the first time this year, Mir Research and Development Inc. was entitled to receive support for the education of 26 PhD students from 2 universities in total.
The documents of companies found successful within the scope of 2244 Industry Ph.D. Fellowship Programme were presented in the signature ceremony which was organized on 24.01.2019 and which the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Deputy Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır and TÜBİTAK President Dr. Hasan Mandal attended. İbrahim Mirmahmutoğulları, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mir R&D Inc., accepted the documents on the behalf of Mir R&D Inc.
The supported projects of Mir R&D Inc. are in the field of “Advanced Composite Materials” and “Analysis Technologies” which are strategic areas of study, and aim to train doctoral personnel in different fields of expertise in these two fields of study and bring them into the industry.
The 2244 program is a seven-year program, 4 years of doctorate and 3 years of working in the private sector. The doctoral scholars take 4500 TL / month scholarship, 25% of which is provided by companies and 75% by TÜBİTAK. After the doctorate, private sector employment was compulsory for 3 years and this time TÜBİTAK provides 40-60% support to the private sector.

Within the scope of the project titled “Interdisciplinary Training of Doctoral Personnel in the Development of Advanced Composite Materials with Polymer Matrix and Production Technologies” which will be held with Yildiz Technical University, it is aimed to include 20 doctoral scholars in 6 different fields.

Within the scope of the project titled “Training of PhD Personnel in the Development of Automated Laboratory Analyzers and Methods” which will be held with Istanbul Technical University, it is aimed to include 6 doctoral scholars in 2 different fields.

Mir Research and Development Inc. has supported new inventions and projects with its ”We Support Brain Power Against Brain Drain” campaign organized for 9 years.
Mir Research and Development Inc., “Fikrine Güvenen Gelsin”, saying the project in order to give the economy be turned into industrial projects, was a first in Turkey with the campaign supporting innovation and new ideas.
In this campaign, which can be attended by university students, technicians, engineers, academicians, private sector and public sector employees, more than 500 projects were evaluated in the fields of plastic splicing technologies, composite materials and production technologies, technologies for transportation of fluids economically, technologies for renewable energy (wind, solar, geothermal etc.), heating and cooling technologies with near zero fossil fuels, diagnostic and analysis technologies for the agricultural and medical sectors.
For the project of “We support brain power against brain drain”, Mir Research and Development Inc. Chairman of the Board of Directors Ibrahim Mirmahmutoğulları said that:
“We aim to increase of Turkey’s regional training and scientific production values with “We Support Brain Power Against Brain Drain” campaign. The projects are evaluated by distinguished university faculty members and expert technical staff of our group; as in previous campaign, we will support projects, inventions and new ideas and enable them to be transformed into industrial products. Until today, 30 projects which have a total industrial conversion cost of over 33 million ₺ have been supported. We believe that only countries which produce their own technology are independent and Turkey reduces dependence on foreign and we are proud to be a part of this process.”
